Slum Dog Millionaire was inspired by this low-key B’wood movie.

Slum dog Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle, was released in theatres in January 2009. It has since gone on to win a slew of awards and recognition, including an unprecedented eight Academy Awards. As a result, its legacy will live on in perpetuity. Several now-famous Hollywood actors and actresses, including Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, got their start in the film.

Western audiences praised the film for its realistic depiction of Mumbai’s slums, but some Indians felt it only served to glorify India’s poverty abroad. Despite its commercial success in the West, the film was not well received. Despite the film’s enormous success, many of Rahman’s fans now regard its score as one of his weaker efforts.

As a result, it is fair to say that Indians did not respond to Slum dog as enthusiastically as its creators had hoped. Despite this, enough people in India recall it that it was mentioned in an episode of the country’s most popular game show.

Amitabh Bachchan’s 14th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati recently included a question about the Academy Award-winning Hollywood film. This is ironic given that the film depicts Dev Patel’s character, Jamal Malik, competing on a game show akin to the British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? against the show’s flashy host, Anil Kapoor.

Bachchan Sr. asked a question worth INR 50,000, and the winner had to correctly identify “which of these films was cited as an inspiration by Danny Boyle for the Oscar-winning film Slum dog Millionaire?”

After careful consideration, the participant decided that Black Friday was the best option. Anurag Kashyap, a director and screenwriter who prefers to do things his own way, made a controversial crime film that many people wanted banned. It came as a surprise that Danny Boyle drew inspiration for a scene in Slum dog Millionaire from this low-key documentary film.

Boyle stated that the thrilling opening scene in and around Dharavi was heavily influenced by the slum chase scene in Black Friday. Dharavi is a neighbourhood in Mumbai, India. Anurag Kashyap and Danny Boyle are said to have known each other for a long time and have learned a lot from one another.

It’s amazing to see how artists from all over the world can continue to inspire one another despite the fact that they don’t speak the same language.
