ZEROBASEONE: Setting A New Standard In K-Pop With 2 Million Debut Sales
ZEROBASEONE, the K-pop sensation that made its debut in July 2023, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first K-pop act to surpass 2 million first-week sales in its debut year.
Rapid Rise of the Rookie Group
Since their debut, ZEROBASEONE, a boy group formed through Mnet’s reality competition Boys Planet, has been making waves in the K-pop scene. Despite stiff competition from established artists, only the top 9 contestants were selected for ZEROBASEONE, setting the stage for their meteoric rise.
Success of “MELTING POINT” Comeback
On November 6, ZEROBASEONE made their first comeback with the release of their second mini-album, “MELTING POINT,” featuring the title track “CRUSH.” Remarkably, within just four months of their debut, the group set a new sales record. The first-week sales for “MELTING POINT” surpassed an impressive 2 million copies, solidifying their position as the first K-pop group to achieve such a feat within a year of debut.
Breaking Records and Joining Elite Ranks
According to Hanteo charts, “MELTING POINT” sold 2,131,352 copies in the first week, surpassing their previous record of 1,822,028 for their debut album, “YOUTH IN THE SHADE.” This achievement places ZEROBASEONE in the esteemed company of K-pop giants like BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, Stray Kids, and NCT DREAM, making them the sixth group to achieve massive first-week sales.
Journey from Boys Planet to International Stardom
After their success on Boys Planet, the multinational group signed with WAKEONE and officially debuted on July 10, 2023. Notably, their debut album, “YOUTH IN THE SHADE,” broke sales records on the Hanteo chart, and the music video for “In Bloom” gained widespread acclaim from fans.
Meet the Members
ZEROBASEONE consists of nine members, led by Sung Han Bin, with Chinese member Zhang Hao as the center and main vocalist. The group also includes Kim Ji Woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae Rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu Vin, Park Gun Wook, and Han Yu Jin.
Second Album and Continued Success
On November 6, ZEROBASEONE released their second album, “MELTING POINT,” along with the music video for “CRUSH.” This comeback not only set multiple records for the group but showcased their commitment to sustained success in the competitive K-pop industry.
