Big B | The film Saat Hindustani, directed by KA Abbas, featured Amitabh Bachchan in his first acting role.
For over 53 years, Big B’s majestic and magnetic screen presence has captivated audiences of all ages and generations.
On October 11, the Shahenshah of Bollywood celebrated his 80th birthday with special screenings of his old classics in PVR theatres in 19 cities across India. These screenings were organised as part of a nationwide festival.
Videos from several of these sold-out performances quickly went viral on the Internet. As evidenced by the reactions in these videos, people went absolutely crazy for his memorable lines and hilarious skits.
Big B may be in his 80s, but he’s still outperforming much younger actors at the box office. It’s fascinating to see that Big B mania isn’t limited to his earlier, more established works simply because they’re more well-known.
This year, Amitabh Bachchan has been the most sought-after celebrity, even more so than Akshay Kumar or Ajay Devgn.
Jhund, which was released in March, was Bachchan’s first film of the year.
Many consider the sports biopic directed by Nagraj Manjule and praised by critics to be the best film of the year.
A month later, he directed Runway 34, in which he co-starred with Ajay Devgn. The film’s most engaging and entertaining portion is the second half, in which Big B plays the head of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
The following year, he played a minor role in the Gujarati film Fakt Mahilao Mate.
Big B portrayed the all-knowing Guruji in Brahmastra: Part One, which became Bollywood’s most successful film to that point when it premiered in September.
The audience praised his work in the film’s action scene.
He appeared in R. Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist the same month. But he didn’t stop there; he also composed the music for the film.
Big B composed and Sunny Deol performed the music for the film’s closing credits.
Goodbye, directed by Vikas Bahl, marked Rashmika Mandanna’s Bollywood debut.
The film received positive reviews from critics and was well-liked by audiences.
He hasn’t finished it yet, though.
Amitabh’s final film of the year is Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya and starring him.
Other stars set to appear in the film include Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Sarika, Danny, Neena Gupta, and Parineeti Chopra.
On November 18, 2022, the film will be released in theatres.
In contrast, five of Akshay Kumar’s films, including Ram Setu, which is currently in production, will be released that same year.
Ajay Devgn will also have starred in five films between now and the release of his next two films, Thank God and Drishyam 2.
This year, Shah Rukh Khan made three cameo appearances, while Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan each have one film coming out by the end of the year.
