Waltair Veerayya Movie Review: Finally, Despite Its Obvious Plot, A Chiranjeevi Picture That Audiences Would Enjoy
Chiranjeevi has struggled to find the ideal film that has truly worked for him since his return to acting in 2017 after a layoff. Despite experimenting with films such as Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Godfather, audiences have yet to see Chiranjeevi in his prime. Filmmaker Bobby Kolli gives spectators exactly what they’ve been waiting for from Chiranjeevi for a long time: a movie that can delight on all fronts while also extracting the best from him. Bobby’s fan service to Chiranjeevi’s popularity is Waltair Veerayya, and it has the star in his element, doing pretty much everything he’s expected to.
The film begins with the infamous heroin smuggler Solomon Caesar (Bobby Simha) fleeing the hands of RAW agents in an Andhra Pradesh village. Solomon flees to Malaysia after wreaking havoc on RAW agents and local cops. Rajendra Prasad, who plays a police officer, is desperate to apprehend Solomon and send him back to India to face justice. Unfortunately, Prasad has no backup, so he seeks the assistance of Waltair Veerayya (Chiranjeevi), a local fisherman involved in smuggling, to assist him in bringing Solomon back to India. When Veerayya and Solomon join forces in Malaysia, the tables are turned on Prasad. The rest of the narrative is as follows.
After a long time, we can observe that Chiranjeevi had a great time playing a character. This is an unrestrained performance in which he brings out all of Chiranjeevi’s old-school charm. The plot is as ancient as the mountain, but what makes Waltair Veerayya unique is that it does not attempt to exalt Chiranjeevi’s character. Instead, it helps him to immerse himself in his persona and have a great time. The film shows Chiranjeevi in the most audience-pleasing way in a long time. Some movies you watch for the story, while others you watch just to see your favourite star sparkle in the midst of everything else. Waltair Veerayya is the type of film that falls into the second category, which is fine because it meets up to expectations.
