Waltair Veerayya Box Office Collection On Day 5: Chiranjeevi Film Gets 129.8 Crore, His Most Successful Picture Since His Comeback
Waltair Veerayya, a Telugu film, is turning out to be Chiranjeevi’s most successful film since his comeback with Khaidi No 150 seven years ago. The film has earned 129.8 crore worldwide in five days and is on track to become Chiranjeevi’s highest-grossing picture by the end of its theatrical run.
Waltair Veerayya, directed by Bobby Kolli, stars Chiranjeevi as a fisherman who assists a local police officer in apprehending an infamous drug peddler who escaped from police custody and went to Malaysia. Ravi Teja also plays an important role in the film.
Andhra Box Office took to Twitter on Wednesday to report the film’s gross profits in the first five days. According to their tweet, the film is on its way to becoming a smash hit. “Waltair Veerayya total international collections in five days: 129.8 crore. Excellent run! “On the verge of a smash.”
Waltair Veerayya was launched on January 13th, amid the Makar Sankranti festival. It competed at the box office with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, which was released one day earlier and did well as well.
Chiranjeevi recently took to Twitter a video of a kid dancing his heart out for a song from his film and he called it as ‘such a bundle of pleasure’. With such young followers, he noted, the song Poonakalu Loading has also worked its charm on the next generation. “What a joy bundle. “‘Poonakalu Loading’ appears poised for the future generation (sic) with tiny admirers like them,” Chiranjeevi tweeted.
Last year, Chiranjeevi spoke out about the box office failure of his film Acharya, which was a box office disaster. Chiranjeevi stated in an October media interview that he accepts full responsibility when one of his films fails. Citing Acharya as an example, he stated that following the film’s failure, he and actor-son Ram Charan returned 80 percent of their pay to the producer. Chiranjeevi also stated that he has no remorse for their film Acharya.
Despite earning 73 crore in the first three days of release, the film was a flop. Acharya was termed as a “double disaster” by box office tracking website Andhra Box Office. According to their research, Acharya has a theatrical value of 140 crore. The picture failed to break even at the box office at the end of its theatrical run.
Chiranjeevi will shortly begin production on his next Telugu film, Bholaa Shankar, a replica of the Tamil blockbuster Vedalam. Tamannaah Bhatia and Keerthy Suresh play important parts in the film, directed by Meher Ramesh.
