Vikram Vedha Was A BO Flop. Saif Doesn’t Know Why The Hrithik Film Bombed.
Pushkar-action Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan haven’t collaborated in over two decades, but Gayatri’s thriller Vikram Vedha is an official remake of the duo’s own 2017 Tamil film.
Because the Tamil version had been such a financial success, the film opened to rave reviews and high expectations for its box office performance. Furthermore, it pitted two of Bollywood’s biggest stars against one another in a fight to the death.
The film, however, was a huge financial failure, or as Saif puts it, “extremely disappointing at the box office.”

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Saif responded to the film’s box office performance. “Honest to God,” he admitted, “Vikram Vedha was extremely disappointing at the box office in the sense that, while it opened great and everyone who saw it really liked it, philosophically speaking, the reason we should really be polite to each other is because nobody knows what works or doesn’t work.”
“It was pretty much written in stone that this movie starring these two guys would open big, and because it’s so well made, it’ll run for a long time,” he added (at the box office). However, it was a letdown.

When asked why he thought Hindi films were failing, Saif replied, “Frankly, I have no idea.” But it appears that something is happening. Movies will continue to be made, as will our efforts to break into them. Prices will be all over the place until the market stabilises. Our pricing structure results in some exorbitant prices. We paid our employees extremely high wages, but the results were disappointing.
The interview begins at 05:49 in the video below:
“A budget of more than 50 or 70 crore for Vikram Vedha was unnecessary,” one user responded to Saif’s comment. A budget of 175 crore for a film like VV is absurd. This film does not have an epic scale or elaborate special effects. War (2019) had a budget of $175 million. Perhaps this is a novel way of concealing illicit funds. I really wish I was wrong.
“I respect Saif and his honesty, and I believe he’s the only actor of his generation who has transitioned to content-driven roles rather than playing the hero in his 50s,” said another.

Finally, a third user added, “Akki was the victim of a covert attack.” Though I recognise that akki is not the only one who charges more than is reasonable, the word “astronomical” comes to mind when I think of akki.” (Akki isn’t the only one who overcharges, but he’s the most blatant.)
According to a fourth user, “he is taking shots at Hrithik Roshan who charged 90 crore for Vikram Vedha because the budget was so high because of Him.”
Saif will play Raavan, king of the demons, alongside Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Sunny Singh in Om Raut’s upcoming film Adipurush.
