Throwback To When Kareena Kapoor Went To Harvard And The Kapoor Family ‘Overreacted’ To Her Achievement.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, known for her sass and witty responses, has always maintained that movies were her calling, despite dabbling in other fields before settling down to become an actor. The now 42-year-old appeared on an episode of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal decades ago and revealed that she tried her hardest to do ‘normal’ things but eventually got bored.
“I went to a government law college and sat on those desks,” the Tashan actor said of her law school experience. My family was shocked that I could go to college and do this. I was acting like any other girl. But then I became bored with it. It took far too much effort.”
Soon after, she enrolled in a Harvard course simply to “have a good time.” Despite opposition from her mother, Babita, and older sister, Karisma, the Three Idiots actor left for Harvard.
“It was the biggest thing ever,” Kareena said of her family’s reaction. ‘Oh my god, my niece, my this, my that has gone to Harvard, a Kapoor girl with no brain has gone to Harvard,’ everyone in the family exclaimed. They all went overboard and celebrated.” Kareena also stated that the Kapoors were not known for being the most educated family in terms of degrees, so this was quite a feat.
Eventually, the Jab We Met actor decided to abandon academics for good and pursue acting full-time, making her debut in the film Refugee, directed by J.P. Dutta and co-starring Abhishek Bachchan, in 2000.
