“There’s Always More Than Meets The Eye,” Taapsee Pannu And Gulshan Devaiah Discuss ‘Blurr’

Blurr is a forthcoming psychological thriller starring Taapsee Pannu and Gulshan Devaiah. Even from the trailer, it appears to be something that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Needless to say, watching Taapsee and Gulshan play these characters adds to the excitement. The film, directed by Ajay Bahl, will premiere on Zee5 on December 9.

In a Blurr interview, Taapsee Pannu and Gulshan Devaiah discussed their experiences working on the film.

Blurr is also Taapsee Pannu’s first production. We asked her how she felt about juggling two important roles.

Taapsee Pannu revealed that producing a film is a lot of responsibility, and that while she had some help, it was still a lot of work. It was a constant juggling act between acting in the scenes and managing the responsibilities of producing the film. It was exciting and hectic for her because she had multiple roles to play in the same project.

Films always have an impact on viewers, and it’s understandable that they have an even greater impact on actors, given how close they are to the characters. In that vein, Gulshan Devaiah discussed his takeaway from Blurr.

He believes Taapsee’s character had a lot of emotional substance, which means the actress had to put in a lot more effort in comparison. Gulshan then added that the film will leave audiences with an important message that he will remember. It’s based on the theme, which is centred on empathy. He went on to say that there are conversations that emphasise this messaging and how they stuck with him. The actor wishes for the audience to have that experience for themselves.

The two actors have always gravitated toward unusual stories and characters. Viewers can expect a lot more experimentation on-screen now that OTT is in the picture. We asked the actors if they felt pressure to do something new every time.

Taapsee elaborated on how OTT feels like a blessing. Given the expectation of creating new characters and stories, it opens up new possibilities. She went on to say that this opens up a lot more opportunities for actors than there were previously, implying that there is room in the industry for all types of actors.

Following up on how they like to experiment with character and script selection, they discussed the various formats. We asked them which format or genre requires the most effort.

They both mentioned that ‘horror’ as a genre requires more effort, owing to the fact that watching a horror film is unsettling for them as viewers. They joked about how scary it is to watch a horror movie, which is why they haven’t done much in the genre as actors. Gulshan added that different themes necessitate different types of efforts, which is why it is difficult to compare. He also stated that working for Ghost Stories was an exciting experience, even though it was a horror segment.

Taapsee summarised the experience that viewers might have or what they should expect when they watch it.

“Do not watch the film alone,” the actress said emphatically. She jokingly added that someone had said it to her after seeing the film, and that’s exactly what she wants the audience to understand. The film is a psychological thriller, and the chills are well worth it.
