Housefull 5 Day 9 Box Office Collection: Crosses ₹227 Cr Worldwide

Housefull 5 Day 9 Box Office Collection crosses key milestones, surpassing Shaitaan and OMG 2 with over ₹227 crore grossed globally.

Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 has turned out to be one of the biggest theatrical juggernauts of 2025, posting strong numbers even as it entered its second weekend. On Day 9, the film added another estimated ₹9 to ₹10.2 crore to its already colossal box office total, pushing its India net to an impressive ₹142–150 crore, according to early data from Sacnilk and Business Today.

And it’s not just the domestic numbers doing the talking. The global gross by Saturday night had surged past ₹207 crore, with some trade trackers reporting it might have even touched ₹227 crore by the end of the day.

Akshay’s Comic Empire Rolls On

While critics may not be calling it high art, audiences are showing up in droves for what’s now become a crowd-pleasing mega-mover. Slapstick antics, ensemble madness, and a tried-and-tested formula — that’s the mix Housefull 5 is banking on, and so far, it’s paying off handsomely.

The film’s success isn’t just monetary—it’s symbolic. After a patchy run at the box office over the last few years, Akshay Kumar has found his groove again, pulling in family crowds and single-screen audiences alike.

Smashes Past Shaitaan, Dethrones OMG 2

On Day 9, Housefull 5 shattered the worldwide total of Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan, which had wrapped up its run with around ₹213.6 crore globally, as reported by Filmibeat. That milestone was toppled within nine days — a staggering pace by any measure.

Back home, it also nudged past Kumar’s socially-driven OMG 2, which had clocked ₹150.39 crore in India last year. With that, the fifth installment of this franchise is now officially his seventh highest-grossing Hindi film, as per Koimoi. And the climb isn’t over yet.

Holding Firm Despite Mixed Reviews

What’s striking is how Housefull 5 has held its ground despite mixed critical reception. While several reviewers wrote it off as “predictable” or “overcooked,” audiences clearly don’t mind a familiar ride if it delivers laughs and spectacle in equal measure.

Saturday’s jump in collections shows that the film has legs — something that eludes most big-budget comedies after their opening weekends. Trade pundits now expect Sunday’s numbers to be even stronger, potentially crossing the ₹160 crore domestic mark before Monday rolls in.

Overseas Audience Joins the Party

Internationally too, Housefull 5 is ticking the right boxes. By Day 9, the overseas collection had reached around ₹48–50 crore, according to Filmibeat. From the UAE to Canada, NRI audiences have given it a solid thumbs-up, especially in cities where Bollywood comedies continue to draw packed houses.

That robust overseas number helped push the film’s global total into the ₹207–227 crore range. Koimoi now ranks it 69th on the list of highest-grossing Bollywood films worldwide—a feat rarely achieved by a comedy franchise this deep into its run.

All Eyes on Aamir Khan’s Return

With a massive ₹210 crore already in the bank, the question now is: how long can it hold off competition? The answer may lie in how it performs during the week and how much it can weather the arrival of Aamir Khan’s upcoming release, which is already generating strong pre-release buzz.

Still, Housefull 5 seems to have the upper hand for now, especially with no other major comedy on the horizon and school holidays fueling footfalls. Business Today notes that the film has built up enough buffer to remain a contender even when new releases arrive.

Franchise Power Still Going Strong

That a fifth film in a franchise is doing this kind of business is, in itself, a rare thing. Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and Kriti Sanon round out a cast that’s both starry and goofy in equal measure. And that goofy charm seems to be exactly what the audience wants right now — lighthearted distraction, peppered with nostalgia.

So far, Housefull 5 has ticked every commercial box, and unless it faces a sudden weekday drop-off, it could end its run in the ₹250 crore+ club globally. That would make it not just a franchise high, but also one of the top-grossing Hindi films of the year.

For now, it’s safe to say that Akshay Kumar — and his madcap mansion of laughs — are back in business.
