Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 Receives ‘U/A’ Rating From CBFC With 10 Cuts And “Har Har Mahadev” Scene Removed
Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated film, Gadar 2, has received a ‘U/A’ rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the censor board requested the makers to make 10 cuts and modifications to the film, which led to the removal of a scene showing rioters chanting “Har Har Mahadev.”
CBFC’s Strict Approach in Recent Times
In recent times, the CBFC has been taking a stricter approach towards film content. It faced significant backlash for passing controversial dialogues in Prabhas-led Adipurush. As a result, the board has been extra cautious with films like Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, which was granted an ‘Adults Only’ rating. Similarly, Gadar 2 was also asked for modifications and cuts.
The Reason Behind Changes in OMG 2
OMG 2 (Oh My God 2) received an ‘A’ rating with several cuts, as the film touches on the taboo subject of masturbation. Since Akshay Kumar portrays Lord Shiva in a human form, there were concerns about religious and political outrage due to the mixing of such themes with a religious angle.
Changes in Gadar 2
According to Box Office Worldwide’s report, Gadar 2 has a runtime of 170 minutes (2 hours 50 minutes) and has been granted a ‘U/A’ rating by the CBFC. The makers were asked for multiple modifications and 10 cuts. The scene with rioters chanting “Har Har Mahadev” was removed, and Shiv Tandav shlokas were replaced with a different line.
Alterations in Dialogue
Certain words like “Defence Minister,” “Tirange,” and “bast*rd” have been replaced with “Raksha Mantri,” “Jhande,” and “idiot,” respectively. Additionally, the dialogue “Dono ek hi toh hai. Baba Nanak ne bhi yahin kaha hai” (with reference to Quran and Bhagavad Gita) has been replaced with “Ek noor te sab jag upaje. Baba Nanak ne bhi yehi kaha hai.”
Audience Response
The changes requested by the CBFC have sparked discussions among the audience. Viewers are sharing their opinions and thoughts on Gadar 2’s cuts and modifications through comments on various platforms.
