Shraddha Kapoor’s VFX-Heavy ‘Nagin’ Delayed After ‘Adipurush’?

Teen Patti, starring Shraddha Kapoor (daughter of Bollywood veteran Shakti Kapoor), was a critical and commercial failure in 2010.

Her breakthrough role was in Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 with Aditya Roy Kapur.

Her subsequent film credits include ABCD 2, Baaghi, Stree, and Chhichhore, as well as the critically acclaimed Ek Villain. These films were well received by both audiences and critics.

The actress is currently filming Luv Ranjan’s untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor and will be seen next in Ahmed Khan’s Baaghi 3 with Tiger Shroff in 2020.

Fans can’t wait to see this new couple in the romantic comedy, which will be released in theatres the following year.

Shraddha was then expected to start working on Vishal Furia’s Nagin trilogy with him. The project’s title character is a shapeshifting snake, which the actress will play.

The latest rumours suggest that the creators have put the project on hold for the time being, but this could change. You just read the correct sentence.

The trilogy was announced in 2020, and it was stated at the time that Nagin would have a large budget due to the extensive special effects required.

Given the ongoing backlash against Adipurush and Bollywood’s current box office slump, it appears the producers are still debating whether to proceed with the project.

According to the same source who revealed the same information to Mid-Day: “The special effects-heavy film Naagin was expected to have a sizable budget. The producers have decided to halt the project indefinitely due to the current market downturn. The film was supposed to begin shooting in May, but the producers and studio decided to push it back until June. Before any further action is taken on this project, Shraddha’s untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor will be released.”

These claims, however, have not been confirmed by the Nagin team or Shraddha.

If you haven’t heard, Om Raut’s Adipurush has been panned since its teaser was released. Audiences have criticised the film’s “cartoonish” visual effects as disappointing. We couldn’t help but wonder if the producers of Nagin decided to postpone production after seeing how well Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s film was received.

Shraddha and Ranbir will co-star in the film, which will be released on March 8, 2023. She has not yet made her next project public knowledge.
