Shah Rukh Khan BREAKS HIS SILENCE On The Boycott Pathaan Campaign; He States, “Such Endeavours Limit The Collective Narrative.”

After the release of the Pathaan teaser trailer, the film generated considerable buzz. As soon as the first song, ‘Besharam Rang,’ was released by the film’s creators, a massive online hate campaign was launched against the movie. Thursday marked the first time SRK expressed his opinion on the Pathaan boycott call.
Shah Rukh Khan flew to Kolkata earlier in the day to attend the opening ceremony of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). While taking the stage, the Bollywood star stated, “Social media is shaping the collective narrative of our time.” Contrary to the belief that social media will negatively impact cinema, I believe that cinema has an even greater role now.”

King Khan continued, “Social media is frequently driven by a certain myopia that reduces human nature to its baser aspects. I’ve read somewhere that negativity increases social media usage and, consequently, its commercial value. Such endeavours enclose the collective story, rendering it divisive and destructive.”

The 57-year-old actor elaborated, “We haven’t been able to meet for some time, but the world is returning to normal. Everyone is happy, but I am the happiest. And I have no qualms saying that regardless of what the world does, me, you, and every positive person on the planet are ALIVE.”

His remarks came days after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra of the BJP claimed that one of the film’s songs displayed a “contaminated mindset” and threatened to prevent the film’s release in the state. Deepika Padukone wore an orange outfit in the song ‘Besharam Rang’, which, according to its critics, resembles the sacred saffron of Hinduism.
