Let me be real with you. No Salman Khan film this Eid. First time in what feels like forever. And you know what? The sky didn’t fall.

Bandra woke up like it always does on Eid morning. Seviyan on every stove, kids in new clothes, the smell of ittar mixing with sea air somewhere near Bandstand. But this year had a different energy outside Galaxy Apartments. No trailer had dropped at midnight. No “Bhai ki film aa rahi hai” WhatsApp forward doing the rounds since 3 AM. Just fans. Thousands of them. Showing up anyway, the way they always show up, because the man lives here and on Eid that means something.
Salman came to the balcony. White kurta. That half smile he does where you can’t tell if he’s amused or just really comfortable in his own skin. He waved. Folded his hands. Said Eid Mubarak. The crowd, honestly, went absolutely mad. Not movie-release mad. Something quieter and a bit more real than that, if you think about it. These people didn’t come for a promo. They came because he’s been doing this since before most of them were born and somewhere along the way it stopped being a celebrity moment and started being a neighbourhood tradition.
He later posted the video for the fans who couldn’t make it. Classic Salman. Keep it personal even when the whole country is watching.

Now about the “no film” situation. Yes, this Eid slot that Salman Khan has basically owned since 2009, the slot that gave us Dabangg, Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and a whole lot of blockbusters that dominated the summer box office, that slot went to somebody else this year. Specifically it went to Ranveer Singh with Dhurandhar 2, and from all early reports the numbers are breaking records. Good for him. But reports also suggest Salman made a deliberate call to step back and avoid the clash. Not retreat. Strategy. Two big films eating each other’s audience on the same weekend helps nobody, and Salman seems to have figured that out before anybody else did.
His current film, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, which was originally called Battle of Galwan, is being saved for Independence Day in August 2026. When you think about it, a film built around the Galwan Valley conflict releasing on the 15th of August is just, well, right. Some films find their correct date and that one seems to have found it.
But here’s the thing about Salman Khan and Eid. He is physically incapable of letting the day pass without giving his fans something. So this year the gift was a song. “Chand Dekh Lena”, the latest track from Maatrubhumi, dropped today and it’s been trending ever since. The song features him with Chitrangada Singh, has that gorgeous old-school Himesh Reshammiya sound that takes you back to the 90s in the best possible way, and the whole thing is about a soldier and the woman waiting for him to come home. Love, separation, the moon as a symbol tying together Eid and Karwa Chauth in one image. Simple idea, hit execution. Already crossed 25 million views since it dropped, following the title track that did 50 million. The music campaign for this film is doing something real.

Two fresh voices singing it too, Nihal Tauro and Ankona Mukherjee, both newcomers. Classic Salman move. He’s been doing this for years, putting unknown talent on massive platforms and giving careers a genuine launchpad instead of handing everything to the same four names. Whether you’re a fan of the man or not, that habit is hard to argue with.
And then, because one story is never enough when Salman Khan is involved, news broke today that he’s already in talks for Eid 2027. The names flying around are producer Dil Raju and director Vamshi Paidipally, who between them have a track record that would make any producer’s eyes light up. Pre-production is reportedly running. Cameras could roll as early as next month. So the Eid slot isn’t gone. It’s just on a one-year pause.

The fans outside Galaxy Apartments probably sensed some version of all this when they were standing there this morning. Maybe not in those exact terms. But the feeling was clear. He showed up. The song is out. August is coming. And 2027 is already being planned.
Salman Khan doesn’t really do gaps. He just sometimes lets you think there’s one.
Eid Mubarak, Bhai.
