Priyamani’s Protective Instincts: Caring For Female Co-Stars In “Jawan”

Priyamani, a co-star in the film “Jawan” alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi, recently opened up about her sense of responsibility and care for her fellow female cast members. In this exclusive interview, she shares her experiences and the bonds she formed during the film’s production.

Priyamani’s Protective Role

Priyamani opens up about ensuring the safety and well-being of her fellow female co-stars in the film "Jawan," starring Shah Rukh Khan.

In the movie “Jawan,” which hit theaters on September 7th of this year, there were six female characters portrayed by talented actresses like Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, Lehar Khan, and Aaliyah Qureishi. Among them, Priyamani, as the senior-most member of the group, felt a strong sense of care and responsibility. She made it her mission to ensure that no one had to leave the set alone during late or unusual hours.

Going the Extra Mile

During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Priyamani revealed that she had a special bond with co-star Lehar Khan, often commuting to work together. However, she extended her protective instincts to all her female co-stars, ensuring they were accompanied when leaving the set, regardless of the late hours. Priyamani explained, “I made sure that we go together because sometimes it used to get late, like 2 in the morning or 9 in the night or 6 in the morning. I didn’t want them to go alone. You cannot call it the maternal instinct. But I just felt protective of them. I said, ‘No, you girls are coming with me’.”

Ensuring Safety in Isolated Locations

Priyamani’s care extended to ensuring the safety of her co-stars, especially in isolated shooting locations. She recalled, “When I got a chance, I used to drop Aaliyah and Sanjeeta halfway, at least where there were people. We were shooting at a deserted place, so I didn’t want them to be all alone.”

Reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan

Priyamani shared her excitement about reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan after a decade, from “Chennai Express” to “Jawan.” She fondly described her experiences working with him once again and the warm welcome she received.

Priyamani’s protective instincts and sense of responsibility toward her female co-stars in “Jawan” shed light on the camaraderie and support that can be found on a film set, making the experience even more memorable for the entire cast.
