Prabhas Starrer The RajaSaab Set for December 2025 Release
India’s costliest horror-comedy blends romance, scares, and laughs with Prabhas in a never-seen-before avatar.

The RajaSaab is coming. And this time, Prabhas isn’t wielding a sword or dodging bullets — he’s walking straight into the shadows, heart first. Slated for a December 5, 2025 release, the film pairs romance with horror and throws in comedy just when you least expect it. The genre may be new for the pan-India superstar, but the ambition? As massive as ever.
Prabhas, But Not As You Know Him
Let’s be honest — nobody had “romantic horror-comedy” on their Prabhas bingo card for 2025. Known for his brooding charisma and action-hero credentials, the actor takes a sharp left turn in The RajaSaab. And it’s not just one role — he’s reportedly playing two.
Director Maruthi, who helms this oddball cocktail of love and ghosts, told Filmfare that the audience is going to be “blindsided, in the best way.” Apparently, this isn’t just about jump scares or punchlines — it’s about finding beauty in the bizarre.
A ₹450 Crore Horror Comedy? Only in India.
Here’s where it gets crazy: the film’s budget is a jaw-dropping ₹400–450 crore. Yep, for a genre that usually leans low-budget, The RajaSaab is rewriting the playbook. As per Koimoi, this might just be the most expensive horror-comedy in Indian cinema history.
And get this — Prabhas actually slashed his own fee by ₹50 crore to help make it happen. The actor reportedly brought his usual ₹150 crore fee down to ₹100 crore. Still, that’s one-fourth of the entire film’s budget. Let that sink in.
The Haveli That Ate the Budget
A lot of that money seems to have gone into building what’s being called “India’s biggest horror set” — a 41,256 sq ft haveli, per BollywoodShaadis. That’s not a typo. It’s a monstrous, hand-built, story-soaked labyrinth that reportedly shifts tone like the characters do.
The set isn’t just creepy for aesthetics. It’s central to the story. Every door, every cracked mirror, every flickering chandelier has a reason to be there.
That Climax? It Took Four Months to Shoot
You thought RRR had long shoots? Try filming a single sequence for 120 days. That’s how long the RajaSaab team spent shooting a 40-minute climax scene. And according to Hindustan Times, they weren’t done there — it took 300 more days of VFX just to polish it.
This is partly why the film’s release was pushed from April to December. No shortcuts, no rushing. The team reportedly wanted every frame to land, visually and emotionally.
The Cast Is Packed — And Strategic
Alongside Prabhas, the film features Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, and Malavika Mohanan (making her Telugu debut, by the way). There’s also Sanjay Dutt, who’s playing a role that the team is keeping under wraps — which only makes fans more curious.
Behind the scenes, the crew is stacked. Karthik Palani is handling cinematography. Music? That’s Thaman S, whose scores are already half the reason people rewatch trailers.
And production duties lie with People Media Factory, which has carved out a rep for mixing scale with substance.
Teaser Drops Today — And It’s a Mood
Promotions officially kick off with the teaser dropping June 16, as confirmed by Times of India. And if the early buzz is anything to go by, this one’s not trying to be subtle. It’s dramatic. It’s weird. It’s… kind of charming?
According to Pinkvilla, internal screenings left the crew pretty stoked about audience reactions. The tone? Not your average horror flick. Not your typical rom-com. Definitely not your cookie-cutter Prabhas vehicle.
Stakes Are High — And Everyone Knows It
Look, this isn’t just another star film. This is Prabhas at a crossroads. After the tsunami of Baahubali, he’s been chasing that magic again — some films clicked, others didn’t. The RajaSaab is a chance to show he can still surprise us. And maybe even make us laugh while scaring the hell out of us.
As for Maruthi, this is the big leagues. He’s known for middle-of-the-road entertainers. This is bigger, weirder, riskier. And if it works? He’s going to be in a very different place in the industry.
For now, all eyes are on the teaser. And then, the big night — December 5.
