Kajol’s marital status and desire to start a family influenced the casting decision
During an interview with Komal Nahta, Karan Johar explained the reason behind the casting choice. He revealed that Kajol was married and possibly wanted to focus on starting a family, which made him consider Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also commented on the situation, stating that significant changes were made to the script, which differed from the initial narration she received. Although she praised Kajol for her exceptional performance in the film, she acknowledged that her interpretation of the character was different from what she had expected based on the earlier discussions.
