Read on to learn more about Neena Gupta's candid revelations and the impact of the first lip-lock on Indian television.

During her interview with Inside Bollywood, Neena Gupta described her first kissing scene for a TV show and recalled it as a horrific experience. As an actor, she explained that they have to perform various scenes, sometimes involving mud or standing in the sun for long hours.

Neena shared her perspective, stating, “Many years ago, I did a serial with Dilip Dhawan. It had the first-ever lip-to-lip kissing scene on Indian TV. I couldn’t sleep all night. It wasn’t like he was a friend; we were acquaintances. He was good-looking, but that doesn’t really matter in these situations because, physically and mentally, I wasn’t ready. I was so tense, but I convinced myself to go through with it.”

Overcoming the Challenge

Neena Gupta further elaborated on how she managed to go through with the scene. She compared it to actors who struggle with comedy or crying on camera, emphasizing the importance of mental preparation. Despite her discomfort, she drilled it into her head and eventually completed the scene. After the kiss ended, Neena rinsed her mouth with Dettol, highlighting the difficulty she experienced kissing someone she didn’t know.

Channel’s Decision and Additional Challenges

However, the channel ultimately decided not to use the scene. During that time, there were fewer TV channels, and family members often watched shows together. Including a kissing scene would have been considered inappropriate. Neena also mentioned another challenging love-making scene she had to do in the film “Utsav.”
