Kayar, Chhote Log Anupam Kher Calls Richa Chadha’s Tweet Mocking Indian Army “Shameful”

Richa Chadha has been embroiled in a controversy since sending an offensive tweet about the Indian military. Several well-known actors and actresses quickly condemned Chadha’s “shameful” tweet attacking the Indian military on Twitter.

Anupam Kher, a veteran of the Hindi film industry, was among her most vocal detractors.

It was the original Hindi version of Kher’s scathing response to Chadha’s “Galwan says hello.”

“देशकीबुराईकरकेकुछलोगोंकेबीचलोकप्रियहोनेकीकोशिशकरनाकायरऔरछोटेलोगोंकाकामहै।औरसेनाकेसम्मानकोदांवपरलगाना…. इससेज़्यादाशर्मनाकऔरक्याहोसकताहै।”

The phrase translates roughly as follows: “Cowards attempt to gain popularity among some people by disparaging your country. And putting the army’s honour in jeopardy… what could be more humiliating than that?”
It is important to note that the recently married actress apologised after deleting the insensitive tweet in which she appeared to offend the feelings of members of the armed forces.

“Even though it could never have been my intention in the least,” he said, “if the three words that have been dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologise and say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part.” He was shot in the leg during the Indochina War when he was a lieutenant colonel. My Mamaji was a paratrooper in the military. “I can’t help myself; it runs in my family,” she explained.

However, it was too late—the damage had already been done.

The number of people who tweeted in response to Chadha was so large that even Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar had to take time out of his hectic schedule to respond to the unfortunate tweet. He stated in a tweet, “Seeing this hurts. Nothing should ever make us forget how much we value the sacrifices made by those who serve in our country’s armed forces. Yesterday’s events occurred today.”
