It’s wrong Vikram Vedha’s Directors React To ‘PS-1’ At BO.
After the success of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Vikram Vedha was expected to be the next major release from Bollywood.
There was a lot of excitement and buzz surrounding the September 30th release of the film, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan and was directed by Pushkar and Gayatri.
Nonetheless, the official remake of the hit Tamil film of the same name, which was released in 2017, has been underperforming at the box office since its release.
Vikram Vedha reportedly earned between Rs 68 and Rs 70 crore (estimated) after its second weekend of release in India, but its success was met with widespread disappointment.
The action film competed with Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan-I, which is currently smashing box office records.
Pushkar and Gayatri, the husband-and-wife directing team behind Vikram Vedha, addressed the film’s backlash in a recent interview.
In response to an India Today question about whether PS-1 had an impact on their film’s box office performance, they stated the following. “No, it does not. Given the number of people who go to the movies, I believe our market is large enough to handle the simultaneous release of two or three films. As a result, if they are interested, they will go see it. Not today, but definitely tomorrow. Despite the fact that another blockbuster is on the way, I don’t believe it will have a significant impact on either of these films. It is, in my opinion, unfair to compare one film to another. The cinema is a fantastic source of entertainment for the entire family.”
They went on to say that they don’t put much stock in opening day numbers and that they believe the film will pick up steam in the coming days due to positive word of mouth.
Ponniyin Selvan-I has earned over Rs. 365 crore at the box office so far, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions co-produced the film, which starred Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Rabi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Kartik.
The plot follows Arulmozhivarman’s ascension from King of the South to Rajaraja Chola I, the greatest Chola Emperor.
