“Got Slapped” Shweta Bachchan Explains Why Mom Jaya Always Hit Her And Never Abhishek
Every child goes through a variety of experiences that are roughly similar to one another during their formative years. As children, we were loved, spoiled, reprimanded, and even beaten, so we’ve seen and done it all (if you are an Indian kid).
When the daughter of one of India’s biggest stars, Amitabh Bachchan, revealed that she was beaten up a lot as a child, it came as a surprise to learn that some star children had experienced a similar upbringing. This was especially true after the daughter confessed.
Shweta Bachchan went on to share some details about her upbringing in an episode of a podcast hosted by her daughter, Navya Nanda. One of the most shocking revelations she made was how frequently her mother, Jaya Bachchan, slapped her.
“I got slapped a lot,” she was quoted as saying. The ruler suddenly broke in my hand while I was holding it. She used to spank me all the time when I was younger. She went on to say that her younger brother, Abhishek Bachchan, was always treated with kid gloves.
“I believe that the first child is always beaten,” Jaya Bachchan defended herself. My childhood was filled with spankings. Statements such as “My sisters didn’t” are too specific and personal to apply to all families.
Navya Nanda then wondered what her mother, Shweta, would do to deserve a smacking. Jaya went on to say that her daughter was extremely impatient, annoying, and stubborn. Navya Nanda then inquired as to what kinds of things would merit a smack from her mother.
Senior Bachchan, for his part, denies any involvement in his children’s physical mistreatment. When asked what the harshest punishment her father had ever given her, Shweta admitted that being sent to the corner was the worst. I used to entertain myself by making up stories and having imaginary conversations with myself while I was made to stand in the corner.
Jaya Bachchan’s reputation as a strict, angry, and stern professional appears to have carried over into her personal life as well. We now know that Jaya Bachchan, like any other Indian mother, is not to be trifled with, thanks to Shweta’s revelation. These ladies know how to get you on the phone, and they do it very well.
Jaya’s next film will be Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar and starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
