Genelia Deshmukh, 35, Wishes To Explore Roles That Are Appropriate For Her Age: ‘She May Be A Single Mother, Or She Could Be A Married Mother

Genelia Deshmukh, 35, has returned from a decade-long hiatus with a bang. Her Marathi debut Ved, co-produced with husband Riteish Deshmukh, has become the second highest grossing Marathi film after Sairat. Genelia returns to the big screen in this picture. The actress has now stated that she is willing to take on jobs that are appropriate for her age group.

Riteish also makes his directorial debut with Ved. Genelia plays his wife Shravani, an Indian Railways employee, but he plays an alcoholic husband pining for his past girlfriend.

Genelia has now indicated her desire to portray parts that are appropriate for her age. “Today, I am in a different age group, and I want to play roles in that group” (age group). Today, I believe there are better written roles. You may be a single mother, a married mother, or a love story. This age group is stunning. “I aspire to have roles written in that zone,” Genelia told Bollywood Hungama in an interview.

Meanwhile, Ved is on track to gross more than 50 crore at the box office. Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday, sharing the film’s latest box office results, “#Marathi film #Ved performs EXCELLENT in Weekend 3 [6.81 cr]… On weekdays, it will surpass 50 crore… Until #Pathaan arrives, he should have a clear, unchallenged run… [Week 3] Fri: 1.35 billion, Sat: 2.72 billion, and Sun: 2.74 billion. Total: 47.66 crore.” Genelia had taken a vacation after marrying Riteish in 2012. They have two boys, Riaan, 8, and Rahyl, 6. Genelia had appeared in a couple films as a guest star at the time. Riteish was recently credited for encouraging her to return to acting. “I enjoy being a mother,” she told PTI in an interview. ‘What if my children are being neglected?’ I often wonder. But, he constantly jumps in and says, ‘If you’re working, I’ll be the person who sees the house, I’ll be the housewife’. That type of understanding and support allows me to make a film.”
