Filmmaker files complaint accusing Atlee of plagiarising SRK’s “Jawan”

Many people are excited about Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the film industry, and many believe he will release not one, not two, but three films in a single year.

Pathaan by Siddharth Anand, Jawan by Atlee, and Dunki by Rajkumar Hirani are among these films.

Since its recent release, Pathaan’s teaser trailer has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. With a cast that includes Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, this spy thriller is sure to be a box office hit in 2023.

Jawan

Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s second film, has had some issues, whereas Pathaan has received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
According to the report, a director named Atlee plagiarised the work of Tamil film producer Manikam Narayanan.

Atlee has been accused of stealing the plot of Narayanan’s 2006 film Perarasu, directed by Udhayan and starring Vijayakanth. This charge was levelled against Atlee in a complaint filed with the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC). The charge was levelled against Atlee.

Jawan

In the story of Perarasu, Ilavarasu and Perarasu are brothers, but they are on opposing sides of the law and clash over their respective ideologies.

Shah Rukh will reportedly play both a father and a son in the film, with both characters acting illegally. Despite the fact that official reports indicate that little is known about Jawan’s plot, the film has been well received.

As of November 7, the TFPC has decided to investigate Atlee’s plagiarism claims.

This is not the first time Atlee has been accused of plagiarising the work of another author.

Raja Rani (2013), his debut feature, drew criticism for allegedly plagiarising Mani Ratnam’s Mouna Ragam (1986).

Jawan

Chatriyan, a 1990 film by K Subhash, is said to have inspired his 2016 film Theri.

Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is said to have been inspired to make Mersal, his third feature film, by his earlier film Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989), or Appu Raja (1990) in Hindi (2017).

And his most recent film, Bigil (2019), has been accused of plagiarising the script of an assistant director named KP Selva. The case, on the other hand, was dismissed by a civil court in Chennai.

Jawan, starring Vijay Sethupathi, will be released on June 2, 2023.
