Desis Lists Indian Horror Films They Found Scary As Hell.
Indian cinema is unrivalled in the production of masala films, romcoms, Horror and action dramas.
Despite having many excellent and impressive films to our credit, the horror genre is not one of the film industry’s strong suits. When we need a scare, we always go to the movies for a dose of Hollywood horror.
The reason for this is that we are more likely to enjoy an Indian horror film than to be scared by it.
On the other hand, a few truly terrifying films from Bollywood and South cinema have kept us awake at night in recent years.
Desis have recently been compiling lists of the few horror movies from Bollywood and regional cinema that have given them nightmares to this day. These films were regarded as among the best of their genre.
Here are a few of the films they mentioned as particularly good examples of the horror subgenre:
1. 13B: Fear Has A New Address (2009)
“13B is without a doubt one of the best, period.” –AdTime6057
2. 1920 (2008)
“The beginning of the 1920s is particularly frightening. The climax and its buildup are both tense and suspenseful. -SimpleIllustrator215
3. Tumbadd, (2018)
“Writing in the horror genre is difficult. It’s possible that we’ll come up with some truly terrifying masterpieces. Folklore and mythology contain a wealth of material that could be adapted into terrifying films. Tumbbad, to my knowledge, was aware of this, and they carried out their plan exactly as planned.” –materdoc
4. Raat (1992)
“This is RGV’s first masterpiece. Revathi was both adorable and terrifying. Certain events reoccur in my nightmares. –pttrusha
5. Makdee, (2002)
“You’ve never heard anything like “Makkadi.” That made me feel like the devil. Being a child and witnessing a traumatic event” -mamayellen69
6. Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)
Bhool Bhulayya appears to have been forgotten. It was both hilarious and terrifying; that’s how good it was! Injustice ratios
7. Raaz (2002)
“No one mentioned the name Raaz?” Bipasa and Dino were there. That was the most terrifying thing I’d ever seen. I’m not sure if watching it again would scare me. –Smooth-Ad-309
8. Shhh! (1993)
“Shhhhh, it’s a Kannada horror movie that everyone I know refuses to watch alone,” the trailer for this film warned. –HeadToToes
9. MMS Ragini (2011)
“Despite not being as good as Tumbadd, Ragini MMS won me over completely thanks to Chetkin (Chudail). Adopted directly from Marathi folklore and used appropriately” –Rabidfire04
10. Krishna Cottage is number ten (2004)
Kirshna Cottage is hilarious, and I can’t wait to show it to my friends. –ashutoshsinghrana
This thread will serve as a recommendation for the best horror movies to rewatch with friends, cousins, or by yourself this Halloween season.
