Catherine, Princess Of Wales Pays Tribute To Princess Diana During Order Of The Garter Procession
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has once again honored the memory of Princess Diana during her participation in the historic Order of the Garter procession. The event, held at Windsor’s St George’s Chapel, witnessed Catherine paying tribute to her late mother-in-law in a special way.
Royal Presence
Catherine, accompanied by her husband Prince William, was the first member of the Royal Family to arrive at the event on Monday (19.06.23). Prince William was dressed in a traditional robe and plumed hat, while Catherine stunned in a polka-dotted Alessandra Rich dress and Philip Treacy hat.
A Meaningful Choice
During the Order of the Garter procession, Catherine adorned Collingwood drop pearl earrings that originally belonged to Princess Diana. These earrings have been used by the princess on previous official occasions, serving as a heartfelt tribute to her late mother-in-law.
Continuity of Tributes
This is not the first time Catherine has paid homage to Princess Diana through her attire. Just days earlier, during King Charles’ historic Trooping the Colour, she wore a pair of earrings that once belonged to Diana. The earrings were a gift from Prince William, along with Diana’s sapphire engagement ring that he presented to Catherine when he proposed in 2010.
Order of the Garter Parade
The Order of the Garter parade had its share of drama when a member of the Household Cavalry fainted and required assistance from a police officer. Despite this incident, King Charles and Queen Camilla were warmly cheered by royal fans. The event, founded by Edward III around 700 years ago, draws inspiration from the tales of King Arthur and his round table.
Andrew’s Absence
Notably, scandal-hit Prince Andrew was absent from the procession for the second consecutive year. Although he attended a lunch associated with the event in his role as a Royal Knight Companion, he was not permitted to join the procession.
