Small Bowel Obstruction

Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Priscilla and Elvis Presley, passed away at the age of 54 following a sudden hospitalization. The cause of her death has now been revealed as complications resulting from a small bowel obstruction. The obstruction, which was caused by adhesions developed after a previous bariatric surgery, led to a strangulated small bowel. This known complication of weight loss surgery ultimately resulted in her untimely demise.

According to records from the County of Los Angeles Medical-Examiner reviewed by E! News, Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death was complications resulting from small bowel obstruction. Small bowel obstructions are blockages in the small intestine that can be caused by various factors, including hernias, inflammatory diseases, or tumors, as stated by the Cleveland Clinic.

Strangulated Small Bowel

In Lisa Marie’s case, the small bowel obstruction was described as “a strangulated small bowel” caused by adhesions that developed after she had undergone bariatric surgery years ago. Bariatric surgery is a type of weight loss surgery that alters the digestive system. The autopsy report, obtained by NBC News, mentioned that this medical issue is a known complication of the surgery.
