Mansoor Khan’s work on commercially successful films such as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak put him in high demand as a director in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In both of these films, his nephew Aamir Khan was a major draw for audiences.
Khan reunited with Koirala in 1995’s Akele Hum Akele Tum, which he also directed. While the film was well-received by critics, it performed poorly at the box office.

Mansoor Khan revealed the news to TOI, saying, “I was hesitant to bring on Aamir and Manisha as a casting duo.” Initially, I had Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles of Akele Hum Akele Tum. I had a conversation with Anil. He was ecstatic beyond words.

However, Aamir’s luck was on his side when Madhuri quickly informed the director that she would be unable to appear in the film. She was said to have previously committed to another project with a plot that was eerily similar to this one.
Mansoor Khan explained Madhuri’s decision, saying, “Madhuri declined the role after reading the entire script.” A film with a very similar plot was in the works, and I believe Indra Kumar was planning to direct it. This film, in my opinion, was Rishta, which he made with Anil Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.
He’s still perplexed as to why she couldn’t tell him the truth. According to Mansoor, the Rishta actress read the script to see if she would be reprising her Devdas role. Madhuri told him she wouldn’t be free for another two or three years after she finished her story.
“Then why did she keep me waiting for so long?” I wondered.

He informed Anil that Madhuri had departed from the show and that she would be replaced by another actress. “I reached out to Anil for help,” Mansoor concluded after reflecting on the Beta star’s reaction. Anil and Madhuri are widely regarded as one of the most popular and financially successful Bollywood on-screen couples of all time. They appeared together in films such as Hifazat, Tezaab, Khel, and Parinda when they were younger. The two actors’ most recent collaboration was in the 2019 film Total Dhamaal.
Despite the fact that either Aamir or Manisha would have been excellent choices for their roles in Akele Hum Akele Tum, they both performed admirably.
