Ajay Devgn Scores His Third Double Century With Drishyam 2 At The Box Office.

Ajay Devgn has done it once more. Prior to the pandemic, it was his Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior that emerged as the year’s final big success, coming close to a triple century. After that lockdown, there was no theatrical success for more than 20 months, until Sooryavanshi came along (which had him feature in a special appearance).

Later, in 2022, he appeared in Gangubai Kathiawadi, the year’s first success, and RRR, the year’s second highest Hindi grosser. There were, of course, disappointments in Runway 34 and Thank God, but Drishyam 2 has erased those disappointments.

The film has entered the big leagues, having crossed the Rs 200 crores mark in its fourth weekend. On Saturday, it earned Rs 4.67 crores. On Sunday, the film will easily surpass the Rs 4 crore mark, bringing the total to Rs 203.59 crores. As has been the case with the film since its release, there was a significant increase from Friday to Sunday, and today’s increase should result in an additional Rs 5 crores being added to the total.

There would be some more personal milestones for Ajay Devgn as well. With Golmaal Again’s lifetime of Rs 205.70 crores being crossed today, the film will become his second most successful. The film, however, will fall short of Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, which grossed Rs 280 crores. Perhaps Bhola or Singham Again will reach that milestone when they arrive.

Meanwhile, the film has become a success for director Abhishek Pathak as well. He has had some good successes as a producer, and he has now transitioned quite successfully as a director as well. One now waits for him to call the shots for Drishyam 3, though one also wonders if he will make something before then.
