‘Ashameful!’ Ranvir Shorey Calls Bollywood “Sh*t Films”

Bollywood had a difficult year, and we don’t just mean that several films bombed at the box office. This year also appeared to be a wave of “boycotting,” or widespread disapproval, of Bollywood films.
While many people in and out of the industry spoke out on the issue, none were as forthright as Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey.
Ranvir Shorey was candid in an interview with ETimes about the need for Bollywood to stop making “sh*t films” and blamed their failures on the growing “boycott” movement.

His words appear to imply that “The quality of a film is what determines its success. As a result, in order to make money at the box office, movies must be entertaining. You can’t just make bad movies and then complain that a boycott ruined your career. No! You just finished making a bad film. It makes no difference whether you spent a hundred, two hundred, or three hundred crore rupees on it; the film is still garbage, and you should be ashamed of yourself.”
In response to a follow-up question about why there has been such a widespread boycott of Bollywood films, Ranvir stated, “I think people believe something unjust is going on in the film industry.” But it all takes place in secret, and even those who are a part of it have no idea what it is. What we’re witnessing now is a furious reaction to wrongdoing.
Major studio films, such as Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj Chauhan, eventually suffered from the boycott culture and underperformed at the box office.
However, some films, such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Brahmastra, were able to weather the boycott storm with remarkable success.
Salman Khan will star in the third instalment of the Tiger franchise, which will begin filming the following year.
