Gigi’s Alleged Ganja Possession

According to reports, Gigi Hadid was caught by customs officers at the Owen Roberts International Airport in the Cayman Islands. The incident occurred when a private aircraft arrived at the airport, and customs conducted a detailed examination of the luggage of two passengers. Gigi, whose real name is Jelena Noura Hadid, was reportedly charged along with her friend, Leah Nicole McCarthy, for the possession of ganja and utensils used for its consumption. The quantity of the drugs was relatively small. Both Gigi and Leah were arrested on suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja.

The Detention and Release

Following their arrest, Gigi Hadid and her friend were taken to the Prisoner Detention Center for processing. However, they were subsequently released on bail. Gigi and Leah appeared in Summary Court on July 12, 2023, where they were fined $1,000 each. The two were reportedly staying at Palm Heights during their time in the Cayman Islands. Notably, Gigi Hadid walked out with no conviction record.
