Adipurush’s Telugu Version Faces Distribution Challenges As People Media Factory Struggles To Recover Costs
In a surprising turn of events, People Media Factory (PMF) is facing difficulties in recovering a significant amount of money after purchasing the wholesale rights of Adipurush’s Telugu version for a staggering 170 crores. The film, featuring Prabhas in the lead role, has generated substantial buzz but is now encountering setbacks as major distributors back off due to the exorbitant prices demanded by PMF.
Distributors’ Reluctance
Top distributors in the industry are withdrawing from purchasing Adipurush at the current prices, causing People Media Factory to face challenges in recovering their investment. Track Tollywood’s report indicates that the production company is requesting a risky payment amount for the distribution rights of the Prabhas-starrer, resulting in distributors hesitating to commit. This setback leaves PMF with a significant deficit of over 50 crores, as the total investment of 170 crores remains unpaid.
Distribution Rights Breakdown
Currently, the rights for Nizam, a region in Telangana, lie with Mythri Movies, who acquired Adipurush for 50 crores. Additionally, six territories in Andhra Pradesh have been sold for 50 crores, while the Ceded rights were purchased for 17.50 crores. These acquisitions sum up to a total of 117.50 crores, leaving People Media Factory with a deficit of 52.50 crores.
The Prabhas Factor
Prabhas, known for his immense popularity in the Telugu market, should ideally help in the recovery of the investment for Adipurush. However, the unexpected challenges faced by People Media Factory in recuperating their expenditure on the film come as a surprise. The company’s ability to secure distributors in the coming days remains uncertain.
