Veteran Actress Sulochana Latkar Passes Away; Amitabh Bachchan Pays Tribute

Sulochana Latkar, a renowned veteran actress known for her work in Hindi and Marathi films, passed away yesterday at the age of 94. She had been battling a prolonged illness related to her age. Latkar had an illustrious career spanning over several decades and appeared in more than 300 films.

Notably, she portrayed the on-screen mother of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in films such as “Muqadddar Ka Sikander,” “Majboor,” and “Reshma Aur Shera.”

Amitabh Bachchan, deeply saddened by the loss, paid a heartfelt tribute to his on-screen mother in his latest blog post. He fondly remembered Sulochana Latkar as a gentle, generous, and caring person.

Bachchan disclosed that he had been in contact with her family, closely monitoring her health during her prolonged illness. He expressed his sorrow at the news of her passing and offered prayers in these challenging circumstances.

Madhuri Dixit, another prominent Bollywood actress, also expressed her grief over the demise of Sulochana Latkar. Taking to her Instagram account, Dixit mourned the loss and praised Latkar’s talent and grace.

She mentioned her favorite film of the late actress, “Sangate Aika,” and highlighted her memorable performances throughout her career. Dixit expressed her sadness at the loss of their conversations and emphasized that Sulochana Latkar’s contributions to Indian cinema would always be remembered.

According to Sulochana Latkar’s daughter, Kanchan Ghanekar, the veteran actress had been facing health issues associated with her age, including breathing difficulties. Her cremation ceremony will take place today at 5.30 pm at the Shivaji Park crematorium.
