Vin Diesel Confirms Fast & Furious Finale for April 2027 — Brian O’Conner Will Return

At FuelFest 2025, Diesel gave fans the update they’ve been waiting for: the Fast saga is officially ending—and Paul Walker’s beloved character Brian will be part of the last ride.

Vin Diesel just gave Fast fans the headline they’ve been bracing for since the first time Dom Toretto revved up a Dodge Charger: the Fast and Furious saga is officially ending. Not teased. Not possibly. Officially.

Speaking to fans at FuelFest in Pomona on June 28, Diesel announced that the franchise finale — what he’s calling “the grand finale” — is set to drop in April 2027. Which gives everyone just under two years to emotionally prepare and, presumably, for Universal to figure out how to one-up launching a Pontiac into space.

But the real twist? Brian O’Conner is coming back.

Yes, that Brian. Paul Walker’s character. A cornerstone of the series, and in many ways, its soul. After Walker’s tragic death in 2013, his presence has remained in the Fast world — referenced, respected, but left untouched outside of that emotionally gutting sendoff in Furious 7. The idea that he’ll return in the finale is huge. It’s also complicated.

Diesel didn’t elaborate on how the character will reappear — whether through CGI, old footage, or the help of Walker’s brothers, like last time. And there’s no official word yet from Universal Pictures. But this isn’t the first time Fast has flirted with the impossible. This is a franchise that’s turned street racers into international spies, driven cars between skyscrapers, and somehow made the word “family” both a meme and a mantra.

Fast X (2023) was pitched as the beginning of the end, and there was talk of a trilogy to wrap things up. Now, according to Diesel, it’s just one more film — final, finite, and full circle. And while we don’t have casting news, a director announcement, or even a working title, fans probably aren’t worried about the details just yet. The emotional stakes are already high enough.

There’s a reason this franchise has lasted nearly 25 years. It’s big, loud, ridiculous fun — but it’s also deeply personal for millions of fans who grew up with these movies. Bringing Brian back isn’t just fan service. It’s closure. It’s a promise that when the final credits roll, the family really will be together again — even if just for a moment.

So yeah, the countdown is officially on. One last ride. One last heist. One last cookout in the driveway. See you in 2027.
