‘Chor!’ Urvashi Rautela Caught Plagiarizing Her TEDx Speech.
Urvashi Rautela has made a name for herself by deliberately attracting attention and provoking critics. Whether it’s her boastful Instagram bio or her stalking of cricketer Rishabh Pant, she’s captured the attention of the internet.
In her most recent viral attempt, she was accused of stealing parts of a TEDx Talk she gave.
Many people were offended by allegations that Urvashi Rautela plagiarised the captions for her social media posts. In 2018, she stole Gigi Hadid’s Instagram caption and used it on her own account. She also stole a caption from actress Zendaya’s Instagram post in 2021. They released Spiderman: No Way Home that year.
The article she appears to have based her TEDx talk on this time is titled, drum roll please…
This collection, titled “20 of the Most Inspiring and Popular TED Talks Ever,” includes some of the most well-known and well-received talks from the TED conference.
Any student who has ever stayed up late researching a paper will tell you that this was most likely the first result she saw and that she most likely just clicked on it.
A Reddit user started a thread to explain how she created her own TEDx talk by quoting and paraphrasing from other people’s talks and articles. Evidently, no attempt was made to summarise or rework the content. Urvashi Raurela’s speech was a mash-up of famous politicians, writers, and psychologists’ quotes and anecdotes.
The majority of Redditors did not find this to be a particularly shocking event. If her track record of stealing other people’s ideas is any indication, she has only grown bolder with age. She started by stealing other people’s captions and is now moving on to full speeches.
Some people believed Urvashi Rautela should not have been allowed to give a TEDx talk because she lacked the necessary experience and credibility.
Others felt that because TEDx was a smaller stage than TED Talk, Urvashi Rautela’s TEDx speech should not be given much attention or compared to the speeches of legends like Shah Rukh Khan. Urvashi Rautela spoke at a TEDx event.
Although plagiarism is one of the most vexing aspects of my job as a writer, it appears that Urvashi Rautela has no plans to abandon ship.
